Mr. X (Xayvion Davidson) is a bassoonist and educator dedicated to helping students discover their musical voices while having fun.

Having experienced firsthand how frustrating practicing can be when you don't know how to improve, Mr. X is passionate about teaching students not just what to practice, but how to practice effectively. His approach combines strong fundamentals, etudes, engaging repertoire, and practical problem-solving to help students overcome challenges and become more independent musicians.

At Mr. X Bassoon Academy, students are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and explore their musical interests. Whether building foundational skills, preparing for auditions, or tackling challenging repertoire, students learn to approach musical challenges with confidence while maintaining the joy of making music.

As a performer, Mr. X has performed with orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, he won the Cynthia Woods Mitchell–Ima Hogg Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the Houston Symphony in 2024.

Mr. X earned his Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Professor Benjamin Kamins. He is currently pursuing his graduate degree at the Shepherd School.
